A survey was carried out at London’s Royal Albert Hall, with film fans voting for films like Chariots Of Fire, Star Wars and Jurassic Park, to determine the UK’s favourite film soundtrack of all time. Little surprise that the top spot belonged to James Horner’s classic timeless score for Titanic.
“You never forget a great film score: from the epic to the intimate, movie music has an unparalleled ability to evoke emotion,” said Lucy Noble, Artistic Director at the Royal Albert Hall. “We asked film fans to pick their favourite, and there’s no doubt about the winner: James Horner’s sumptuous, heartbreaking score for Titanic.”
The Top Ten:
- Chariots of Fire
- Star Wars
- Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
- The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
- The Great Escape
- The Magnificent Seven
- Back to the Future
- Jurassic Park
Whilst the above list packs some strong soundtracks, it also speaks volumes to the kind of audience the Royal Albert Hall tends to attract. I’ll vouch, for example, that not every reader will be well-acquainted with The Magnificent Seven. For those keen to educate themselves in the comfort of their own homes, check out local projector rental and hire the right sound system for the job.
